Artist, Researcher, Curator and Internet Gallery Director, Producer.
My main inspiration comes from nature and wildlife. Capturing time and light are continuing themes. I create works which explore the beauty and complexity of nature, and the appreciation of the natural world. My work is also influenced by anatomy and physiology, science, travel and other cultures; as well as history, films and music.
My artistic style merges representation with illusion and abstraction. Drawings and paintings I make can be incredibly detailed and technical. I also love to work with more freedom and experimentation; with drip painting, bold brushwork, rhythmic mark making and delicate brushwork highlighting natural lighting effects. I create art which is intuitive and emotional. The colours are often intense, atmospheric, physically charged and expressive.
I trained in Fine Art, Photography, Video/ Film Production, Digital Art and Ceramics.
I have received awards for example from the Royal Scottish Academy and an Erazmus Scholarship. I have worked and exhibited with artists from the UK and America, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan. I have worked on projects with artists in Ireland, France and Cyprus. I have curated and exhibited in exhibitions which included artists from Belgium, Russia, Romania, Korea, China, and Taiwan, and artists from Spain and South America. My artworks are in private, public and library collections in the UK and abroad.
